So we made a Public Service Campaign focused on managing intricacies and finances of the healthcare system.


Our PSC was based on our Literature Review - "The Finances of Medicine"

Our audience is 26 - 35-year-olds who are either just getting into the healthcare system on their own or may need navigating some of its more confusing functions.

Choosing the Site

When deciding what website to use factors like the website’s limitations, how visually pleasing and how interactive it can be were taken into account.

Formatting the Chosen site

After finally settling on what website to use, formatting the website the next step and in this step things like color scheme, animation transitions and dividing the information amgonst section were tackled.

Re-reading the information gathered from our literature review research on Finances in Medicine.

  • Not a lot of information was copied from the literature review

Researching additional information on our topic from online sources.

Avoiding the multitude of unreliable sources.

  • Suitabe sources were found from trusted websites like .gov.
  • Some sources were not as solid as that gained from the .gov websites.

Combining some of the information take from our literature review and from the online sources.

Separating the combined information into different categories for the website.

  • The information had to be re-categorized many times due to the problem faced when finding a suitable website host.

The templates were boring and restricting.

  • We decided not to use it.

Canva

The templates were more visually pleasing however, it was not as interactive.

  • We choose to not use it for our campaign’s website.
  • We instead kept Canva for our presentation.

The templates looked visually pleasing, it allowed for our website to be interactive, and a lot a features were offered to us on the free trial.

  • We choose a template that was suitable for the type of topic we are discussing and the age range of our target audience

Adding the information on the website

Spliting the information into appropriate sections base on the new website’s template.

  • We slightly alter the original layout

Editing the website using transitions and color schemes

Finding the appropriate colors to make everything look uniform.

  • Our final decision on the colors were green, white, dark blue

We often found ourselves overwhelmed at the vastness of the topic we were trying to discuss.

First, we illustrated the importance of insurance with a metaphor.

Then we used a statistic from the U. S Census to inform our readers just how many Americans have insurance & what kind they have

Finally, we gave our readers a step by step guide to getting public insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace

First, we explained that even with insurance, one might still have to pay for health services - especially prescriptions.

Then we explained what price gouging is & how prevalent it is in the medical industry

Finally, we gave our readers tips for saving money when they pay for prescriptions.

The social media is an important part of spreading our message. People nowadays learn information through social media and relate to it more rather than reading articles or newspapers.
